The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.

Opening Words:
Hey Everyone,
It is that time of year again….
I hope you are all excited and raring to go and that we all are counting our blessings as we head into one of the most interesting Thanksgiving seasons of our lifetimes.
Announcements:
There are a few things going on that I just want to touch base on and make sure that everyone is aware of…
1 – We are having the Thanksgiving Day Dinner at my house at 5PM tomorrow. We will be eating turkey and you will be bringing the sides. This is going to be a ton of fun and is the 4th Annual Tapestry Turkey Day and a Movie event we have done. After dinner, we will be going to see a Christmas movie like we do every year. This year, I believe we will be seeing, “Four Christmases.” It seems to be the cleanest and best movie to choose from. http://www.fourchristmasesmovie.com/
2 – We WILL NOT be doing the outreach event in the morning. We were planning to do a Thanksgiving Morning Homeless feed, however, we will not be doing that this Thursday for a couple of reasons. A) There are two other events happening in DC this year. One of them is at a huge stadium and we would be better off next year to support that event. B) there is not enough time for me to prepare the turkey and stuff. C) We are going to be going with Seung and Hoang to join them with the December 6th After Thanksgiving meal they are doing for “Fuel” in Langley Park. So, you can join there. It is also at 10:30am!
3 – If you have jackets and sleeping bags, please donate them for our homeless ministry. We will be giving these away at the Dec. 6th event. If you are interested in this event email me and I will put you in contact with Joanie & Seiji. They are heading up this brand new ministry.
Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.
-Theodore Roosevelt
Other Announcements:
4 – Christmas events are coming up and will be listed in the bulletin.
5 – The New Member’s Class we will be having in December is going to be announced this weekend. (We have a few people signed up for it, let me know if you would like to be a part).
6 – We have another round of the poetry seminars coming up in December, see Jeanne for details.
7 – Small groups end for the winter the week of December 8th. This DOES NOT include the prayer small group at Pastor Fidelis’ house.
8 – The Annual “After the Holidays Gala,” is in the planning stages, if you are interested in helping out, see Grace Chung or Daeho Kim.
9 – Our Ink and Toner Cartridge Recycling, Cell Phone Recycling and Ebay ministry is really growing. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! This is a way to recycle for ministry! COOL!
10 – Sunday PM services have been changing and the relaunch will be this January.
11 – We need Children’s Ministry helpers. PLEASE let Lori know if you want to sign up for AM slots on Sunday to help one of the children’s leadership team in my favorite Tapestry ministry.
12 – We are helping Jose’s class get composition notebooks. We have already gotten someone to donate 100. We want to make sure that his school has plenty from now on. If you want to donate them, let us know. We will keep you up to date on other opportunities to support him as he reaches out to the public school system through his position!
13 – (Lucky Number 13! HAHAHA) LASTLY, but NOT least… We will be doing a series in January that is going to KNOCK your socks off. Keep your ears open as we dive into 2009, a year we believe full of promise, hope, excitement and change! GET READY FOR AN AMAZING YEAR!!!!!!
Remember God's bounty in the year. String the pearls of His favor. Hide the dark parts, except so far as they are breaking out in light! Give this one day to thanks, to joy, to gratitude!
-Henry Ward Beecher
Last Notes:
So, have a great holiday. And if you are traveling, take this little note here as I close this email as a blessing for you and your family as you celebrate Thanksgiving and be sure to slow down long enough to make a few memories and hug family. Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING and be blessed in the name of our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Blessings all!

What we're really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?
