Thought for the Day

"The great omission in American life is solitude; not lonliness, for this is an alienation that thrives most in the midst of crowds, but that zone of time and space free from outside pressure which is the incubator of the spirit."

                                                                                  -Marya Mannes

Check out this quote. This really spoke to me today. I have been working to redo my private life and reorganize, make my life plans based on my personal mission, design my solitude times and finalize changes to my work schedule and prayer and meditation time. At least once a year I reevaluate everything and kind of pause in life before making huge life decisions.

With the church in a growth position and there being more need in our community than ever before, I see that this is one of those times to really pray, get quiet before Poppa and redo my life-plan.

Think back to the quote. Doesn't it inspire a certain outdoorsy, step out and be available to the voice of GOD feeling? I mean, I am encouraged today with the rest of the summer time that I have to get there. I plan some time for this this weekend. I encourage everyone to do the same. It all goes back to what I said Sunday…

"When things push for me to get busiest, I slow down to hear more." Let's definitely make space to hear the voice of Jesus…

Check out this verse:

"Psalm 46:10 can be misunderstood and misinterpreted. The Hebrew term translated 'be still' in many modern English translations means to 'abandon, relax, stop striving.' It pictures a soldier who puts down his weapons, stops fighting, and lets down his defenses, because the danger has passed.

"Verse 10 is not calling on us to live a contemplative, passive life, but to take a very active step of faith! God is so dependable that it is as though the danger we still see has already passed, because He has already solved the problem. The verse doesn't just tell us to cease striving. It also tells us to know that He is God. That includes the ideas of acknowledging that He is God: that He is great above my understanding; that He is sovereign and perfect in how He deals with me; that nothing escapes His notice and nothing is beyond His ability." Just some thoughts.
