 | Dear Tapestry Family, We wish you and yours a wonderful season of love, life and encouragement. We hope that this will be the BEST Christmas you have ever experienced. The Season of Blessed Trials... "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade! When I rise, let me rise joyful, like a bird. When I fall, let me fall without regret, like a leaf. --Wendell Berry Inspiration of the Day: Alexandra Scott was diagnosed at age one with neuronblastoma, a form of cancer. Undergoing treatment at age 4, she decided to run a lemonade stand to raise money for the hospital, an idea she came up with entirely by herself. When her parents set up the fund, Alex wanted to support cancer research not just for "her" cancer but for other kinds of childhood cancer -- because "those kids want to get better too". Over the next four years "Alex's Lemonade Stand" chapters were opened by children all over the country mobilizing funds for cancer research. Alex herself passed away in 2004 -- by the end of that year her fund raised more than $1.5 million. If I'm not mistaken, this season is all about a young couple with heavy burdens. No place to go and struggles all around. Yet, this couple, rising above their own inadequacies and trials, rather than submitting to the likely temptation to quit and take easier roads in life, traveled, ran, loved, gave, hid, overcame, and ushered in the coming of a King. Thank GOD that Mary & Joseph didn't give up when everythign was against them. As I was speaking with someone yesterday, I realized how real the battle is that Satan wages against those who are pregnant with vision and hope. So, during this season, my word to you is: "HOPE!" Immanuel is coming in your situation. And often it's the struggles in life that give us the character needed to raise and care for a vision once it's birthed. I don't think Mary & Joseph were ready to raise the Savior until they went through their trials. Don't give up! Embrace the trial! You WILL HAVE CHARACTER! I believe in you all! Maybe we, who have it so great, should do the same as Mary & Joseph and Alex! Maybe it's time we embraced our trials as training and instead of internalizing and complaining, start showing kindness to broken and turn problem into praising! Let this be your season of Giving Back. Give when it's easy. Give when it hurts. Give while your happy. Give, live and love. Have a blessed holiday season! Blessings! pd dustinhedrick - Matthew 5:3-9 | | |
 | You Have Family Here, so don't be alone! And at the Tapestry, we know that many of us are here through the season without family. So, don't forget that we have the Christmas Party and the Christmas evening family dinner and a movie get together for those with no family or those who need to get away from family for a minute! HAHAHA! However you choose to spend this season, know that you are loved and needed! Blessings! Sincerely, Dustin Hedrick | | |
